Hi I'm Nikala and welcome to my Toffee Photography and scrapbooking blog.

I live in Brisbane's western suburbs with my husband Jason and two children Harrison 7 and miss Charlotte 5.

My love of photography and scrapbooking began with the birth of Harrison and quickly became my passion.

I love to update my blog regularly with clients sneak peek photos, personal images of my family, my scrapbooking layouts and news and anything and everything that inspires me to create.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nikala xx

King of Pop

Today we lost a true legend and millions of people all over the world are in shock and morning his death. Today I thought about the day that Michael Jackson called my sister and I. I was 12 years old at the time, and our family friend Wade Robson - choreographer, was visiting Michael after winning a competition which was only the beginning of what was to come for him in the near future. Wade had asked Michael if he'd call us to say hi, and I later found out that my mum was expecting the call and kept us home from school the following day. It was something that I'll never forget and still to this day most people think I'm telling a big porky pie.

It's one of those days that you'll always remember where you were and what you were doing when you found out the sad news.

Tonight I googled Wade and was totally blown away with what he has acomplished in his short career.

Here's his site if you're interested: www.waderobson.com

 Have a great weekend.

Jimmy and Kate

A few weeks ago I had the time of my life photographing Jimmy and Kate's wedding. Kate works for "A current Affair" so there were many channel 9 familar faces there. Kate and her maids got dressed at the the "Emporium Hotel" which was just stunning...speaking of stunning, how about the bridesmaids.....

James and Lucia

In amoung all that rainy weather I had the pleasure of photographing James and Lucia's wedding night. The ceremony and reception was celebrated on a Friday night at 5pm at the St Lucia Golf Club. Lucia is from South America and as they'll be having a huge second wedding in her country, she only wanted some casual photos of the night. They make the sweetest couple and everyone including myself had a great night...so thank you.

Still alive....

Well, it has been awhile again since my last post.

Life sure has been busy with Harrion's 8th Birthday Party - photos later, photographing and still editing two fab weddings, being punished weekly by my personal trainer  - been learning some new boxing moves, so look out...I can now defend myself, lol.

Here are some layouts that are now old layouts, but better late than never.

Both of these were for Scrapboxx Newsletters.

And here's one that was inspired by my dear friend Mardi. I love her country shabby Chic look that she does so well.....and so does my sister, because she saw this lo and took it home.

Ooops, forgot to mention our newest family member - Ben the budgie. He was found in the middle of the road and even though we weren't in the market for a pet bird, we would of been very sad if he was run over, and so...he now lives, chirps and throughs his seed around our house - god love him.

  Only a short post today.

C u soon.

Tuesday
12May

Its been awhile.....

since my last blog entry and so much has been happening around here that when  I've eventually had the time I haven't wanted to.

Easter came and went and we spent the last day of school term celebrating with an Easter bonnet parade and morning tea. My mum made the most gorgeous Easter headbands for both the teachers, Charlotte and I .

We spent Easter Sunday with both grandparents which was lovely. My mum went all out as she does. The table was covered with eggs, baby chicks, coloured straw, cupcakes and lots of love. It's these little things she does that the kids will always remember.

Charlotte and I looking the part.

Here's my mums Easter tree. She has a tree for almost every event in the calendar....so cute.

For the past 2 weeks we've been packing boxes and moving into our new renovated

Day Theatre at the Wesley. We're still getting settled but I'm enjoying the change of scenery and my new position.

Last week I had not long left work and received a call from Jason......... Harrison had been on our trampoline and had broken through the so called safety net, landing on his head on our concrete pavers. When Jason got to him he wasn't moving....very scary. He met me and then we headed back to Wesley Emergency. He had concussion and a massive lump but he's doing fine.

I've been busy with family photo shoots which has been fun and I'm shooting another wedding  on the 22nd May. I'm also now working for Tribette Realestate taking all the images of her current houses for sale. I love a new challenge and Bette is such an inspiring and positive  lady to be around.

We've began to look at display homes again in preparation for our next project. There's loads of inspiration out there and we're really looking forward to a change again. Most people think we're crazy moving all the time, but I get bored and it's Jason's passion to build and landscape. Speaking of which, Jason has started his own landscaping and design business "Living Abode". He's still in the building industry and has been in his element landscaping these past few weeks. It's great to see him so happy and doing what he loves.

Charlotte has been my only willing model at the moment, so here's her latest:

That's it for me.
